FOOTBALL

Film each position you play, and feel free to include time test and/or strength training videos. (FILM IN LANDSCAPE MODE)

QUARTERBACK

Quick game throws 2x each side (use your quick game footwork and add in RPO run action once each side):


  • Slant
  • Hitch
  • 4 step speed out

Intermediate throws 2x each side (use 3 step and hitch from gun or 5 from under center):


  • Curl (14 yards back to 12)
  • Comeback (16 yards back to 14yds)
  • Dig (10 yards, work opposite side and reset to backside dig once on each side)

Deep balls 2x each side (use 3 step drop from gun or 5 step from under center):


  • Seam (look off safety, snap eyes back and throw seam)
  • Fade (look off safety, snap eyes back and throw fade)
  • Deep Post (add play action 1 time on each side, make sure all post throws have a lot of air)

Checkdowns 2x each side (from the running back position)


  • Swing Route (take a three step drop with eyes down field, reset feet and throw swing as check down)
  • Angle Route (take a three step drop with eyes down field, reset feet and throw angle route)
  • Flat Route (eyes immediately go to flat and throw with quick three step drop)

Pocket Escapes (complete the 4 reps below on each side)


  • Three step drop escape outside the DE and throw to a receiver 15 yards deep and on the sideline (comeback window)
  • Three step drop escape underneath the DE and throw to a receiver 15 yards deep and on the sideline (comeback window)
  • Three step drop escape outside the DE and throw to a receiver running over the middle (over route)
  • Three step drop escape underneath the DE and throw to a receiver running over the middle (over route)

RUNNINGBACK/FULLBACK


Skill specific drills (5x each side):


  • Off-tackle Reaction (stretch handoff, through cones or bags and make a move and then BURST)
  • 4 Square footwork drill, make a move and burst. (see example video)
  • (Feel free to add one or two more position specific drill you excel in or are comfortable doing, make sure it is executed well!)

Routes (2x each side):


  • Swing Route
  • Flat route 
  • Texas or (angle route)
  • 6 step corner route
  • Wheel

NOTE:  Make sure every route looks crisp, is caught cleanly, and give a 15 yard burst after each catch.

WIDE RECEIVER/TIGHT END


Routes (2 each side):


  • 6 yard hitch
  • 3 step slant (1 free release and one press release each side.)
  • 4 step speed out (get to 5 yards)
  • Curl route (14 yds  back to 12 yds)
  • Dig route (10 or 15 yard in)
  • Fade (1 free release and one press coverage release each side.)
  • Post (7 steps, keep skinny)
  • Post Corner (7 steps vertical, 5 steps to the post, break to the back pylon)
  • Endzone Fades. (press coverage release and high point the ball)

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN/DEFENSIVE LINEMAN


OL


  • 3-Cone Drill (4x)
  • Mirror (O-Line, feet side shuffle 4x)
  • Short Pull, Pop & Drive 
  • Kick step pass block (OL)
  • 10 yard split 
  • 185lb bench press (maximum reps)

DL


  • 3-Cone Drill (5x)
  • 4 Bag Drill (5x) 
  • Pass Rush Drill L & R (5x each inside and outside move)

LINEBACKER/STRONG SAFETY

W Drill 4 times each way (see video for example):


  • W Drill 
  • Pedal + open & break down hill 
  • Pedal + open & speed turn 

Curl Flat Zone drops 4x each side:


  • Drop to curl flat zone, break downhill and breakdown in front of ball carrier (simulate wrapping up)
  • Drop to curl flat zone, break to sideline and intercept ball. 

Blitz 2x each side (see video):


  • Walk down, blitz full speed and give an outside move (rip or swim) on the offensive lineman and sack the QB.
  • Walk down, blitz full speed and give an inside move (rip or swim) on the offensive lineman and sack the QB.

DEFENSIVE BACK/FREE SAFETY/NICKEL

W Drill 2 times each way (see video for example):


  • W Drill 
  • Pedal + open & break down hill 
  • Pedal + open & speed turn 

90 degree breaks 2x each side (see video for example)


  • Back pedal, break @ 90 degrees and intercept ball
  • Back pedal with weave break @ 90 degrees and intercept ball

Open field plays 2x each side:


  • Back pedal and open up and run with fade route (attack ball at high point)
  • Back pedal with weave and open and run with post route (go and track down ball) 

Press Coverage 2x each side (watch example video):


  • Shuffle at the line using hands, run to fade ball (high point ball) 

Nickel/Zone drops 2x each side:


  • Drop to curl flat zone, break at 90 degrees and intercept ball.
  • Drop to curl flat zone, break at 45 degrees down hill and intercept ball

KICKER/PUNTER/LONG SNAPPER

KICKER


Kickoffs 4x each


  • Kick as far as you are capable
  • Onside kicks 

Short Kicks 2x each:


  • College PAT
  • 20 yards middle of field 
  • 20 yards left hash
  • 20 yards right hash

Intermediate Kicks 2x each:


  • 30 yards middle of the field
  • 30 yards left hash
  • 30 yards right hash

Long


  • 40 yards or more middle of the field
  • 40 yards or more left hash
  • 40 yards or more right hash
  • Try to make two kicks from your maximum distance

PUNTER


  • Four open field punts with maximum hangtime (punt from your own 20) 
  • Four directional punts to the right pinning defense inside 15 yd line (punt from 50)
  • Four directional punts to the left pinning defense inside 15 yd line (punt from 50)
  • Four drop punts pinning defense inside of 10 yd line (punt from 40 or 50)

LONG SNAPPER


  • 10 snaps to punter 15 yds behind you and then set with your feet to the right.
  • 10 snaps to punter 15 yds behind you and then set with your feet to the left.
  • 15 snaps to holder for PAT/Field Goals.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

GUARD

A basketball pro day video is going to have a wide range of varieties based on skill set but it is good to show off all of the necessary skills college coaches want to see. A college coach is going to want to see a guard handle, shoot and defend. The workout below is a great example to follow to produce a great basketball workout video.


And feel free to add more content. Show off your strengths and talent. If you are athletic, add a athletic plays like dunks and different finishes, if you are a shooter, show off your range, etc.


INCLUDE

  • 30 seconds of stationary ball handling.
  • 30 seconds of on the move zip zag ball handling, full speed with explosive cuts.
  • 3 of your best finishes/dunks
  • 3 Catch & Shoot 3s in a row.
  • 3 1 dribble pull ups in a row.
  • 3 Catch & Shoot 3s in a row while moving.
  • 3 off the dribble 3's
  • 3 running off a downscreen
  • 3-5 of your best 1 on 1 moves with a live dribble and in the triple threat.

BASEBALL

Film each position you play, plus hitting & base running. (FILM IN LANDSCAPE MODE)

HITTING

The pitcher should throw batting-practice-type fastballs. Footage should be filmed either outside on a diamond or in a cage with a pitcher throwing batting-practice-type fastballs—no soft tosses. Take seven swings max at a time. Then, step out and rest for a few minutes. Make sure you use an aluminum bat. Don’t OVERSWING trying to impress the coaches, because your mechanics will suffer, focusing on driving the ball with a smooth clean swing!


INCLUDE

  • Fifteen swings with the camera behind the catcher area
  • Fifteen swings with the camera five feet directly to the right of the plate (for right-handed hitters) or left of the plate (for left-handed hitters)
  • Include hits to all parts of the field. (Don’t just pull the ball)

BASE RUNNING

When running the bases you will show three total reps. If you have been recorded running the 60 yard dash, please include this time. (This doesn’t mean we will automatically share it). Take a good amount of rest in between, you want your legs to be as fresh as possible. Pump your arms, drive your knees and BREATHE while running! You will send us ONE rep from each three running situations totaling 3 total base running reps.


INCLUDE:

  • Running from the batters box to first base as if you are trying to beat an infield single. (Camera needs to be positioned from coaches box at first following the runner the entire time.)
  • Running from the batters box simulating a swing and sliding into second. (Camera needs to be positioned behind second base following the runner the entire time)
  • Running from a lead off position at second base and sliding at home. (Camera needs to be positioned behind Homeplate following the runner the entire time.)

Catcher

Film with the camera angle 10 feet in front of the catcher facing the catcher.


INCLUDE:

  • Four framing pitches (two pitches on each corner)
  • Film with the camera angle positioned two feet to the left and five feet in front of the mound to show: 
  • Blocking pitches (five directly in front of you, five to your left, five to your right).
  • Film with the camera angle positioned three feet behind the second baseman for half and two feet behind the catcher for half. The film must show the second baseman catch the ball from all camera angles.
  • 5 pop and throws to 2B
  • Film with the camera angle positioned three feet behind the catcher. The film must show the second baseman catching the ball.
  • 5 throws to 3B
  • Film with the camera angle positioned three feet behind the plate. The film must show the third baseman catch the ball.
  • Mock bunts and throws to 1B (three balls up the 1B line)
  • Mock bunts and throws to 1B (three balls up the 3B line)

SHORT STOP & SECOND BASEMEN

Film with the camera angle positioned four feet to the left of the mound for half of the video and four feet behind short stop for half. The first baseman must be seen catching the ball. Whether the athlete plays SS or 2B, they will need to take their ground balls at SS in order to maximize range and arm strength. Send over your best 4 reps for each situation.


INCLUDE:

  • Four feeds to 2B for double plays.
  • Four feeds from the second baseman coming across the bag and making the throw to 1B. (Can also turn it as a second baseman receiving from the shortstop if you are a second baseman.)
  • Four slow choppers hit directly at you
  • Four ground balls hit 8–10 feet to your right
  • Four ground balls hit 8–10 feet to your left
  • Four ground balls hit directly at you

THIRD BASEMEN

Film half the video with the camera angle positioned four feet to the right of the plate. The other half should be filmed four feet behind the third baseman. The first baseman

must be seen catching the ball. Send over your best 4 reps for each situation.


INCLUDE:

  • Four slow choppers hit directly at you (Get it out QUICK)
  • Four ground balls hit directly to your right/backhand
  • Four ground balls hit directly to your left
  • Four ground balls hit directly at you
  • Four charging a bunt and throwing to first.

FIRST BASEMEN

Film with the camera angle positioned four feet to the left of the plate. (Half of the ground balls should be off the bag and half should be holding a runner on.) Send over your four best reps for each situation.


INCLUDE:

  • Four ground balls hit directly at you
  • Four ground balls hit directly to your left
  • Four ground balls hit directly to your backhand
  • Four slow choppers hit directly at you

OUTFIELD

For Outfielders CF, RF and LF should take their ground balls and fly balls in right field. Film with camera positioned 15 feet in front of the athlete (in the direction of home plate) and five feet left (toward center field) focusing on the athlete’s movement in the field. Send over your best two reps from each situation.


INCLUDE:


Film with camera positioned 15 feet in front of the athlete (in the direction of home plate) and five feet left (toward center field) focusing on the athlete’s movement in the field.

  • Two ground balls hit directly at you and thrown to 3B
  • Two ground balls hit to your left and thrown to 3B
  • Two fly balls hit to your left and thrown to 3B
  • Two ground balls hit to your right and thrown to 3B
  • Two fly balls hit to your right and thrown to 3B

  

Film with camera behind 3B, showing both the outfielder and the third baseman. The focus should be on the athlete’s throwing accuracy and arm strength. Show:

  • Two ground balls hit directly at you and thrown to 3B
  • Two ground balls hit to your left and thrown to 3B
  • Two fly balls hit to your left and thrown to 3B
  • Two ground balls hit to your right and thrown to 3B
  • Two fly balls hit to your right and thrown to 3B
  • Film with camera angle behind home plate, showing both RF and C, focusing on throwing accuracy and arm strength.
  • Five ground balls hit directly at you and thrown to home
  • Five fly balls hit directly at you and thrown to home

PITCHER

Begin recording these pitches after a complete warm-up. The person filming should make sure they show the catcher catching the ball at all times. There are two different camera angles to film pitches from: behind the mound, and behind either the right- handed pitcher’s box or left-handed pitcher’s box. Film half of the pitches from one camera angle and half from the other.

For RHPs, set up the camera three feet to the right and five feet behind the mound to be able to see ball movement. LHPs should be to the left.


INCLUDE:

  • Ten varied pitches out of the wind-up, with fastballs being at least five of them.
  • Ten varied pitches out of the stretch, with fastballs accounting for at least five of them.
  • The next set of pitches should be filmed with camera set up three feet behind the right-handed batter’s box for RHP and three feet behind the left-handed batter’s box for LHP.
  • Ten varied pitches out of the wind-up, with fastballs being at least five of them.
  • Ten varied pitches out of the stretch, with fastballs being at least five of them
